LMIA approved. This employer is approved to hire a foreign worker into this role, which is what lets a work permit be issued for it. It does not by itself make you eligible.

About this role

Cedarline Timber Frames is a small timber-frame shop and showroom in Acton Vale, Quebec. We build custom frames and sell the hardware, finishes and building supplies that go with them, and we are adding a sales associate to help customers in the front showroom.

Most of the day is spent on the floor with customers: answering questions about timber, fasteners and finishes, pulling stock from the yard, writing up orders and taking payment. You will keep the showroom tidy, restock shelves and pass larger project enquiries to the shop foreman. It is hands-on retail in a working yard, so steel-toe boots are needed and the pace picks up in spring.

What you'll be doing

  • Customer service. Greet walk-in customers, answer questions about timber and hardware, and help them find the right product.
  • Order processing. Write up sales, take payment by card or cash, and keep the till balanced at the end of the shift.
  • Stock handling. Pull orders from the yard and shelves, restock displays and flag low inventory to the foreman.
  • Showroom upkeep. Keep samples, price tags and displays tidy, and sweep the floor at the end of the day.

What they're asking for

  • No experience needed. We will train the right person on products, pricing and the point-of-sale system.
  • Language. Working French is needed for customer conversations; functional English is an asset.
  • Physical fitness. You can lift and carry up to 25 kg and be on your feet for most of the shift, indoors and in the yard.
  • Tickets. Steel-toe boots are required; we provide a pair after three months on the job.

What the employer offers

  • Pay premium. An extra $1.50 per hour on Saturdays during the spring building season.
  • Gear. Steel-toe boots provided after three months and a shop jacket on hire.
  • Leave. Three weeks of vacation after the first year and paid statutory holidays.
