LMIA approved. This employer is approved to hire a foreign worker into this role, which is what lets a work permit be issued for it. It does not by itself make you eligible.

About this role

Northumberland Shellfish Co. is a shellfish processor and shipper on the Tomifobia River in Ayer's Cliff, and we are hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse to look after our seasonal and year-round plant staff. This is a new position: we want someone on site who can handle day-to-day health needs, keep records straight, and support our safety program.

The days are steady and hands-on. You will run a small first-aid room, see staff for minor injuries and illness, manage medication and dressing supplies, and keep our health records ready for inspection. You will also sit in on monthly safety meetings and help with training on cold-room work, lifting, and hand protection.

What you'll be doing

  • Direct care. Assess and treat minor workplace injuries, provide first aid, and refer staff to a clinic or hospital when needed.
  • Records. Keep confidential health files, incident logs, and medication records up to date and in order for Quebec and federal inspection.
  • Safety support. Attend monthly safety meetings, follow up on incident reports, and flag hazards in the plant and cold storage areas.
  • Training. Deliver short sessions on hand protection, safe lifting, and cold-weather and cold-room health for plant and dock crews.

What they're asking for

  • Licence. Current practical nurse registration with the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers auxiliaires du Québec (OIIAQ).
  • Language. Working French and English for staff care, records, and inspections; CLB 5 English and functional French.
  • Certification. Valid Standard First Aid with CPR at the health-care provider level.
  • Conditions. Consent to a criminal record check and provide proof of immunization; no prior nursing experience required — new graduates welcome.

What the employer offers

  • Health coverage. Group health, dental and vision benefits after three months for year-round staff.
  • Gear. Scrubs, safety boots, rain gear and cold-room outerwear supplied at no cost.
  • Leave and premiums. Paid sick leave, a shift premium for weekend coverage, and two weeks of vacation in the first year.
