LMIA approved. This employer is approved to hire a foreign worker into this role, which is what lets a work permit be issued for it. It does not by itself make you eligible.

About this role

Sun Peaks Lodgekeeping runs a small after-school and summer learning program out of a community space in Baie-D'Urfé, supporting school-age children with reading, numeracy and everyday classroom routines. The work is hands-on and supervised by a lead teacher, and it suits someone patient and reliable who wants a first paid role in education.

A typical day starts with setting up the room and reviewing the plan with the lead teacher. You then work one-to-one or in small groups on assigned activities, help children stay on task, supervise snacks and outdoor time, and note what went well or needs follow-up before tidying up at the end of the session.

What you'll be doing

  • Small-group support. Work with two to four children at a time on reading, writing and number activities set by the lead teacher.
  • One-to-one help. Sit with a child who needs extra time and go through the task step by step without doing it for them.
  • Supervision. Watch over children during snacks, breaks and outdoor play and keep the group within sight at all times.
  • Room setup and notes. Prepare materials before the session, tidy afterwards, and pass on brief written notes about each child's day.

What they're asking for

  • No experience needed. This is an entry-level role and training is provided on site by the lead teacher.
  • Education. A high school diploma or equivalent is required; no post-secondary credential is asked for.
  • Language. English at CLB 5 or better for clear instructions with children and staff.
  • Background check. A satisfactory criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening before the first shift.

What the employer offers

  • Paid training. Orientation and the first two weeks of shadowing are paid at the full hourly rate.
  • Sick leave. Paid sick days as set out in Quebec labour standards, no doctor's note for short absences.
  • Gear provided. Program supplies, a staff shirt and sun protection for outdoor duty are supplied.
