About this role
Fond-de-Lac Excavation is a small excavation and site-work contractor based in Agassiz, serving residential and commercial clients across the Fraser Valley. We are adding a customer service representative to handle incoming calls, quotes and scheduling at our office so that crews in the field can stay in the field.
The day is spent on the phone and at the desk: taking calls from homeowners and builders, booking site visits, preparing quote packages for the estimator to review, and keeping job files current. You will also follow up on invoices and answer questions about timelines, so you need to be comfortable asking a project manager for an answer rather than guessing at one. The office is a working one, and the pace picks up when the weather does.
What you'll be doing
- Call handling. Answer incoming calls and emails from residential and commercial clients, and route technical questions to the right project manager.
- Scheduling. Book site visits, deliveries and crew appointments, and confirm them with clients a day ahead.
- Quoting support. Prepare quote packages and change orders from information the estimator provides, and track which quotes are outstanding.
- Records. Keep job files, contact records and invoice follow-ups current in our scheduling and bookkeeping software.
What they're asking for
- Communication. Clear spoken and written English for phone and email work with homeowners, builders and suppliers.
- Computer basics. Comfort with email, spreadsheets and learning a scheduling system; no prior excavation knowledge needed.
- Availability. Able to work the posted office hours in Agassiz, with a reliable way to get there.
- Background check. A criminal record check for handling client billing details, arranged after an offer.
What the employer offers
- Pay. Starting wage above minimum, reviewed after the first six months.
- Training. Paid onboarding on our quoting and scheduling systems, with a senior staff member available for questions.
- Leave. Two weeks of paid vacation to start, plus statutory holidays as set out in the BC Employment Standards Act.
