LMIA approved. This employer is approved to hire a foreign worker into this role, which is what lets a work permit be issued for it. It does not by itself make you eligible.

About this role

Saguenay Transport Léger is a transportation and site services company based in Armstrong, BC, and we keep grounds and yards in shape for our own properties and for nearby commercial clients. We are adding a landscaper to our small outdoor crew and will train someone new to the trade from the ground up.

The day starts at the yard with equipment checks and a look at the work list, then heads out to mow, trim, plant and clean up sites around Armstrong and the surrounding valley. You work alongside an experienced lead, learn the machines as you go, and finish with the tools cleaned and put away.

What you'll be doing

  • Grounds maintenance. Mow, trim, edge and aerate lawns and keep beds free of weeds.
  • Planting. Set trees, shrubs and seasonal beds and water them through the season.
  • Site cleanup. Rake, sweep, haul away clippings and keep walkways and yards tidy.
  • Equipment care. Check oil and fuel, clean tools and report any damage to the lead.

What they're asking for

  • No experience needed. We hire people who are new to landscaping and train them on the job.
  • Tickets. A valid BC driver's licence is required; first aid is an asset but not required.
  • Physical work. You can lift and carry up to 25 kg and work outdoors in heat, rain and dust.
  • Reliability. You show up on time, follow safety directions and work well with a small crew.

What the employer offers

  • Overtime. Hours past 40 in a week are paid at time and a half.
  • Gear. Work gloves, safety glasses and rain gear are supplied.
  • Training. Paid time with the crew lead to learn mowers, trimmers and planting work.
