About this role
Antigonish Fitness Equipment Repair operates a repair and service shop in Bella Coola, BC, keeping fitness equipment running for gyms, community centres and home users across the valley. We are adding a network administrator to look after the shop's own systems and the small networks we set up for customers.
The day is mostly hands-on with hardware: checking routers and switches, setting up wireless access points, keeping backups current and helping staff when something stops working. You will document what you change, test before you hand it over, and travel to customer sites in the Bella Coola area when a job calls for it.
What you'll be doing
- Network setup. Install and configure routers, switches and wireless access points for the shop and for customer sites.
- Maintenance. Check backups, apply updates and keep an eye on the shop's servers and workstations.
- Troubleshooting. Respond to connectivity and hardware faults, work the problem through and record what fixed it.
- Documentation. Keep network diagrams, device inventories and setup notes current so the next person can follow them.
What they're asking for
- Education. Completion of a college certificate or diploma in network administration, IT support or a related field, or equivalent self-taught experience.
- Certification. CompTIA Network+ or an equivalent entry-level networking certificate is an asset; we will help the right candidate obtain one within the first year.
- Tickets. A valid BC driver's licence and reliable transportation to reach customer sites in and around Bella Coola.
- Conditions. A criminal record check is required before starting, and the role is onsite at the shop.
What the employer offers
- Training support. The employer covers exam fees for one networking certification in the first year.
- Gear. A shop laptop and tools are provided, along with a mileage allowance for customer site visits.
- Leave. Two weeks of paid vacation to start, plus statutory holidays as set out in the BC Employment Standards Act.
