About this role

Crowsnest Pass Roofing is a roofing contractor based in Belle River, Ontario, serving homeowners and small commercial clients across Essex County. We are adding a database administrator to keep the systems behind our scheduling, estimating and inventory records running reliably as the company grows.

The day is spent maintaining and backing up our databases, writing queries and reports for the office team, and troubleshooting access or performance problems as they come up. You will work closely with the office staff and the owner, document what you change, and help plan small improvements to how we store and use our data.

What you'll be doing

  • Database maintenance. Monitor and tune the company's databases so scheduling, estimating and inventory records stay available and accurate.
  • Backups and recovery. Run scheduled backups, test restores and keep a written record of recovery procedures.
  • Queries and reporting. Write SQL queries and simple reports for the office team and the owner.
  • Access and support. Set up user accounts and permissions and resolve day-to-day database issues raised by staff.

What they're asking for

  • Training. Completion of a college or university program in computer science, information technology or a related field, or equivalent self-taught experience.
  • Entry level welcome. No prior work experience in the role is required; recent graduates and career changers are encouraged to apply.
  • Technical basics. Working knowledge of SQL and at least one database platform such as PostgreSQL, MySQL or SQL Server.
  • Work authorization. Legally entitled to work in Canada and able to work onsite in Belle River, Ontario.

What the employer offers

  • Mentorship. Hands-on training from the owner and senior office staff during the first months.
  • Health coverage. Group health and dental benefits after three months.
  • Equipment. A work laptop and access to the tools you need to do the job.
