LMIA approved. This employer is approved to hire a foreign worker into this role, which is what lets a work permit be issued for it. It does not by itself make you eligible.

About this role

Boulangerie du Vieux Marché is a wholesale bakery in Ardrossan, Alberta, supplying bread and pastries to restaurants and grocery stores across the Edmonton region. We are adding a crane operator to our shipping yard to move flour totes, pallets of finished product and equipment safely around the site.

The day starts with a walk-around and pre-shift inspection of the overhead crane, then moves into loading and unloading alongside the shipping crew. You will work from hand signals and radio calls, keep the yard organized and stop the job when something does not look right.

What you'll be doing

  • Pre-shift inspection. Check hoists, rigging and controls before the first lift and report any defects to the supervisor.
  • Loading and unloading. Move flour totes, ingredient pallets and finished bakery product between trucks and the yard.
  • Rigging. Attach and balance loads with slings and chains, and confirm the weight before every lift.
  • Yard upkeep. Keep walkways and staging areas clear, and log lifts and equipment checks as required.

What they're asking for

  • Certification. Complete or be enrolled in a recognized overhead crane operator course; we will support the remaining training.
  • Experience. None required — this is an entry-level position, and new operators work under direct supervision at first.
  • Tickets. Standard first aid and a willingness to complete site safety orientation; steel-toe boots required.
  • Conditions. Able to work in cold weather, follow hand signals and radio direction, and pass a drug and alcohol screen.

What the employer offers

  • Training support. Course fees and exam costs are covered for the certification you need on site.
  • Boot and gear allowance. Annual allowance toward safety footwear and cold-weather gear.
  • Overtime and breaks. Overtime after 8 hours a day, with two paid rest breaks per shift.
