About this role

Sherbrooke Paysagement Plus is a landscaping and site-work company based in Arcadia, New Brunswick, serving residential and commercial clients across the region. We are hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator to run excavators and other machines on grading, drainage and landscaping projects, and we are glad to train someone who is new to the trade.

Days start with a walk-through of the site and a check of the machine before the engine turns over. From there you dig footings and trenches, move and shape soil, load trucks and help the crew finish grades. You work alongside labourers and a lead operator, and you will be shown how the equipment is maintained and inspected as you go.

What you'll be doing

  • Operation. Run excavators, skid steers and loaders on grading, drainage and landscaping work under the lead operator's direction.
  • Daily inspection. Check fluids, greasing, tracks and safety devices before each shift and report anything that needs repair.
  • Site preparation. Dig trenches and footings, move topsoil and gravel, and shape grades to the plan.
  • Cleanup. Keep the machine, the work area and the surrounding property tidy at the end of each day.

What they're asking for

  • Certification. Willingness to complete the provincially recognized heavy equipment operator safety training, with the cost covered by the employer.
  • Experience. None required; this is an entry-level posting and training is provided on site.
  • Tickets. Valid first aid and WHMIS certificates, or willingness to obtain them within the first month.
  • Conditions. Ability to work outdoors in all weather, lift up to 50 lbs, and get to sites around Arcadia and the surrounding area.

What the employer offers

  • Training. Paid on-the-job training and support toward operator certification.
  • Gear. Safety boots, high-visibility clothing and personal protective equipment supplied by the employer.
  • Pay extras. Overtime paid at time and a half after 44 hours a week, with a seasonal completion bonus.
