LMIA approved. This employer is approved to hire a foreign worker into this role, which is what lets a work permit be issued for it. It does not by itself make you eligible.

About this role

Elliot Lake Grounds Maintenance keeps grounds crews, equipment and job records running across the North, and the office team in Behchokǫ̀ needs a developer to build and maintain the internal tools the crews rely on. The work is practical software: scheduling apps, job tracking, invoicing support and the small scripts that keep daily operations moving.

A typical day starts with checking the ticketing queue and fixing whatever broke overnight, then building out a feature on the scheduling tool or cleaning up data exports for the accountant. You will sit with the operations staff, watch how they actually use the software and ship small improvements often rather than waiting for big releases.

What you'll be doing

  • Application support. Respond to bug reports from office and field staff and fix issues in the internal scheduling and job-tracking tools.
  • Feature development. Build and test new screens and reports using JavaScript, Python and SQL as the operations team asks for them.
  • Data handling. Write scripts to clean, import and export job and payroll data between systems without manual re-entry.
  • Documentation. Keep setup notes and simple how-to guides current so the next developer can pick up the work.

What they're asking for

  • Education. A diploma or degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field, or equivalent self-taught experience.
  • Programming. Working knowledge of at least one language such as JavaScript, Python or C#, and comfort with SQL queries.
  • Problem solving. Ability to read a bug report, reproduce the issue and find the cause without step-by-step instructions.
  • Eligibility. Legally entitled to work in Canada and able to work on site in Behchokǫ̀.

What the employer offers

  • Housing support. A monthly housing allowance is provided to help with the cost of living in Behchokǫ̀.
  • Training budget. A yearly allowance covers courses, books and certification exams related to the role.
  • Leave. Three weeks of paid vacation per year plus statutory holidays under Northwest Territories employment standards.
